July 22, 1976…Excelsior, Minnesota
Nine months pregnant, the weather was hot, the mosquitoes were feasting on every bit of flesh they could find, and I was determined to tend to my garden full of zinnias and black eyed susans and poppies and cone flowers and nasturtiums while dodgling buzzing bees that were drunk on the lilacs that circled us all.
THEN….whew….lots of labor and the next afternoon….
SHE ARRIVED!!!….Melanie Lucy….To be continued!
(clearly this was snapped months later!)
