Two times in my life, my body and I have been physically attacked, each time leaving a trail of cells and organs that were required to deal with rearrangement. For years, teams of medical professionals and spiritual teachers and I have looked these conundrums in the eye and scratched our heads at the wonder of the body.
I am grateful, I am proud, I am in awe, at what the body is capable of, and when I open my eyes in the morning and grasp the knowing that I am not only pain free but I am also as limber as a monkey and as strong as a small tiger, I say “thank you”.
There are days when this is not so, and these my teachers.
Pain and discomfort is irrefutable and completely one’s own. Everyone’s preference in such moments is as individual as we are as humans, but a universal truth is that gentleness heals.
Gentleness to self is sitting is God’s lap and surrendering to the wisdom and guidance that can be found in listening while there and breathing in the love.
