In 2000, in NYC there was a Cow Parade…(YES! Cows again!)…there were cow statues all over the city to the EXTREME delight and fun for all…
Well….I just learned something SO wonderful!
When my great great great great grandfather immigrated from the Netherlands to NYC, (which was hardly a city at the time) he purchased a tract of land in Manhattan that ran from 42nd Street to 33rd Street and from Madison Avenue to 3rd Avenue….
He was one of the earliest European settlers in Manhattan….he sold his land to Robert Murray…hence this area is now called Murray Hill (Above Gramercy Park)….And my great great great great grandfather had COWS on this land!
I love it.
No wonder I always feel that NYC is my home…though my hood was the Upper West Side…and COWS?????
So fun.
