Good Morning on this 8th day of May….16 months since the fire that changed many lives over here/there in Malibu, Pacific Palisades and Altadena. The coyotes and occasional mountain lions have been replaced by giant enthusiastic raccoons and squealing children and all is well with the world. My parrots that used to circle up into my palm tree every morning and evening at exactly the same time, screeching their heads off have Long Beach cousins! The setting isn’t quite as poetic, as they land in a tree by the neighborhood Von’s at 6-ish every evening, but I hear them screech and it make my heart smile.
Many of my friends have said “HOW do you do it?”
I have no answer beyond saying that I adore life…and my brain is my best friend. I travel far and wide in my imagination and spirit and I create things along the way. My friends remain my friends, heart companions through and through, and I have no need to be anywhere other than where I am.
They ask “What about money?”
I have no answer for this either, except that I am resourceful, my needs are few, and I am happy.
Another question,”Do you miss your home?”
My answer….my home was my haven. It was an exquisite dream and needed at that time. Now I have another home…tiny..no bath tub or kitchen, but I’ve made friends with a microwave and banana trees overhead. I would LOVE the parrots to come and visit but so far they have other plans.
And now? Happy Mothers’ Day to all of my mother friends! I will be driving down to see my grand children in between their basketball tournaments and voice lessons…HEAVEN.
May you have your heaven as well
