May we learn to walk upon the earth
With the confidence and clear-eyed stillness of animals,
So that our minds might be baptised
In the name of the wind and the light and the rain.
These words floated through me just now from John O’Donahue, as I hung up the phone from someone whose brother is still being held hostage by Hammas. Tomorrow will be the two month mark.
Historically for me in this arena, a crisis ‘happens’ and then life and time put a distance between IT and now. Feelings shift into all sorts of places but there is an actual movement away from ‘the thing’. This is different…it’s a marathon without a finish line and there’s an emotional, mental and physical toll that ebbs at one.
Reclaiming and repairing the human spirit…
May we learn to walk upon the earth
With the confidence and clear-eyed stillness of animals,
So that our minds might be baptised
In the name of the wind and the light and the rain.
