Before the fire, my ‘welcome the morning’ ritual included my singing bowls.
There were seven.
Their sound was heaven.
These bowls had been a gift to me from Norman. He had collected them during his years in Germany, as a t’ai chi master. They had come from Nepal and Tibet, through the hands of holy teachers.
When my grand children visited, the bowls were explored in various ways…
We all know what happened during the fire.
On my first post fire visit to the ashes of my home, wearing a space suit, gloves and shovel in hand, I unearthed three treasures. The singing bowls, pieces of my Quan Yin, and a pottery elephant that my youngest daughter had made in preschool.
When I landed forty-five miles south, in my tiny nest with a beautiful garden, I laid the bowls and the Quan Yin on a bare space…and during this year, they have merged into the garden with beauty and peace, covered with jasmine blooms.
